Director of Deadpool 3 Doesn't Confirm or Deny Taylor Swift Casting Speculation

Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool 3, continues to fuel rumors about the potential involvement of Grammy-winning artist Taylor Swift in the third installment of the franchise.

In response to the ongoing Taylor Swift casting rumors surrounding Deadpool 3, director Shawn Levy remains elusive when it comes to confirming or denying the singer's participation in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Levy was once again pressed about the veracity of reports suggesting Swift's appearance in the Deadpool threequel. As he has done on previous occasions, Levy neither confirmed nor denied Swift's role in the MCU tentpole. When asked if there had been discussions about Dazzler in connection with Swift, referring to her rumored part in Deadpool 3, Levy playfully responded, "Well, it certainly seems to be a topic of discussion on social media every day, and that's all I'll say about that." When Horowitz inquired about Swift's suitability for the role of Dazzler, Levy commented, "That sounds like an interesting idea... I recently went to a football game with friends, had a great time, and I'm excited to talk about various other topics."

Levy has been teasing the media ever since reports about Swift's involvement in Deadpool 3 surfaced in August. Dazzler is a character associated with the X-Men in Marvel Comics, and insiders suggest that Swift will portray the character, possibly aligning with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in the threequel. Speculation about Swift's appearance in Deadpool 3 gained momentum earlier this month when she and Levy were photographed alongside Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, who reprises his role as the titular "Merc With a Mouth." Dazzler previously appeared in live-action in the most recent X-Men film, 2019's Dark Phoenix, portrayed by Halston Sage.

Swift is just one of several rumored cameos expected in Deadpool 3, with Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry rumored to play Storm and Kingsman franchise actor Taron Egerton potentially appearing as a Wolverine variant. Levy has kept details about these secret cameos under wraps but expressed his gratitude for having them in the film.

In the meantime, Swift is promoting her concert film, The Eras Tour, which provides an exclusive look at the singer's ongoing tour in support of her discography. Directed by Sam Wrench and released in theaters on October 13, The Eras Tour has already become the highest-grossing concert movie of all time, earning $178.8 million to date. If Swift joins the cast of Deadpool 3, it will further expand her filmography, which already includes roles in 2019's Cats and 2022's Amsterdam.

The release date for Deadpool 3 is currently uncertain after the SAG-AFTRA strike led to the cancellation of its original May 2024 release date. Production on the film was halted in July due to the strike, with Jackman recently confirming his readiness to resume shooting in a workout video. This "very R-rated" installment will be the first R-rated movie in the MCU.

As of now, there is no official information regarding the new premiere date for Deadpool 3.
